What is a CMS?
A CMS is the software that manages a website. An effective content management system allows website administrators and staff to quickly make changes to a website without extensive training. We also choose content management systems that are exceptionally adaptible. That allows us to easily expand your website as you have new ideas without having to start over. We have worked with many who have developed their website on a poor content management system that did not allow the site to grow... making even simple changes extremely difficult and expensive.
Open or Closed Source?
There are generally two ways for software developers to release their work. One system is known as "open source" and the other is "closed source." With open source, you have access to all the code in order to effect any change that you need for your particular situation. With closed source, you are dependent on the original developer to release a new version that contains the change you need. For us, the decision is clear; open source allows fast and cost effective changes to be made. What's more, many developers will contribute their work back to the community so that everyone receives the benefit of the developers' time.
Which CMS?
 There are literally thousands of content management systems available. Of course the answer has quite a bit to do with the unique circumstances of each client, however we generally use the Joomla! content mangement system. It is currently the most widely used CMS in existence and has a community of thousands. It is being used by enterprise, government, e-commerce, bloggers, and small business owners alike. Although there are many firms that develop their own CMS for development, we have found Joomla! to be an exceptional utility for providing efficient website management. All of our staff have been trained on the Joomla! CMS, and many of us have been working on Joomla! even before it was called Joomla! Our developers have created Joomla! extensions which have been downloaded tens of thousands of times and translated to many other languages.
